Saproxylic Hymenoptera in dead wood retained on clear cuts, relation to wood parameters and their degree of specialisation

چکیده
Abstract Intensive forestry is a threat to biodiversity, and therefore actions are made mitigate this loss. The are, however, designed based on available knowledge about the requirements of species, for saproxylic insects concerns mainly Coleoptera, while diverse but poorly known Hymenoptera has contributed less. In paper we asked whether substrate (divided as parasitoids non-parasitoids) similar those Coleoptera Diptera. We used an insect material reared from logging residue wood comparison. Theoretically parasitoid should be less specialised than other host species they belong higher trophic level. However, found no such difference even opposite trend, that were more beetles. Parasitoids had significantly in newly dead fine diameter (1–4 cm, compared coarse 8–15 cm) groups. This probably due many them have bark beetles hosts. non-parasitoids groups confined old (4–5 years), which line with aculeate wasps building nests emergence holes insects. Implications conservation habitat suggest well also applicable them. parasitoids’ association trivial substrates (fine wood) good supply breeding habitat, whereas their high specialisation combination level contain proportion threatened Coleoptera. How traded off needs further studies.

Wood-Inhabiting Beetles in Low Stumps, High Stumps and Logs on Boreal Clear-Cuts: Implications for Dead Wood Management
The increasing demand for biofuels from logging residues require serious attention on the importance of dead wood substrates on clear-cuts for the many forestry-intolerant saproxylic (wood-inhabiting) species. In particular, the emerging harvest of low stumps motivates further study of these substrates. On ten clear-cuts we compared the species richness, abundance and species composition of sap...
